Outside Sales Engineer — Western US

Job Description

International manufacturer of industrial induction heating equipment has a mid-level remote position for a proven problem-solver capable of working in groups, as well as independently. The Outside Sales Engineer – Western US is responsible for supporting and enabling the growth of new sales across all company product and service offerings in the Mountain and Pacific Time Zones. Ideal candidate will have experience in the brazing & heating industry. Growth will be accomplished through prospecting, qualifying, and shaping new sales opportunities, assisting in responses for business development opportunities, and coordinating sales efforts with inside sales resources. While we are located in Michigan, this would be a home office opportunity with significant travel to visit customers (up to 3 or 4 days per week). Ideal candidate would be located close to a major airport in the Mountain or Pacific Time Zone.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Generate sales in the Western United States with new and existing account targets
  • Identify prospective customers by using business directories, following leads from existing clients, participating in organizations and clubs, and attending trade shows and conferences
  • Visit existing customers to discuss current programs and suggest new programs
  • Develop sales strategies for targeted markets
  • Coordinate efforts with inside sales staff to respond to new sales opportunities
  • Provide post trade show follow-up for select targets, including tracking new sales leads to progress the sales opportunity to next action step
  • Coordinate follow-up action steps including organizing and submitting sales proposals
  • Lead quotation process internally
  • Deliver quote/proposal and close the order
  • Sales Travel as required throughout the Western United States including:
    • Represent the company at industry trade shows
    • Provide sales presentations to prospective clients (Western US)
    • Conduct sales calls with existing Western US clients to maintain client relationship
    • Quarterly visits to eldec LLC Office in Auburn Hills, MI

Minimum Job Requirements:

  • College degree or minimum 5 years’ experience selling technical products, machined parts, or services
  • Experience in brazing and heating industry
  • Previous program development/management, and/or project management experience
  • Proven track record of accomplishments of stated goals
  • Ability to make high impact presentations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to read blue prints
  • Understanding of part joining processes, e.g. welding, brazing, shrink fitting
  • Effective technical communicator
  • Proficient in Microsoft products (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Comfortable with the use of technology (videos, PowerPoint presentations, etc.) as an aid during customer discussions
  • Previous CRM Experience preferred (not required)
  • Languages a plus, preferably Spanish and/or German.
