We’ll work hand-in-hand with you to develop a customized solution through a mutually beneficial partnership.
Processes are developed using your parts to ensure results meet or exceed your process expectations. You will benefit from our years of experience with induction heating in various applications ranging from brazing and shrink fitting to curing and annealing.
Process development is performed right here in our Auburn Hills, Michigan facility. In-house prototype runs are available to prove process results, and our development team is also available to support final commissioning and acceptance at your facility if and when it is required.
Process Development Capabilities Tailored To Specific Client Needs
Our technicians will recommend a customized, induction heating process plan after analyzing your specific conditions and challenges. Typical discussions include:
- Part and process review
- What type of material will you heat?
- Which location on the part needs to be heated?
- Will you use more than one induction heating process on the part?
- Is the induction heating process part of a manufacturing cell?
- Application discussions
- Are you planning braze, shrink fit, heat or cure?
- What is the target temperature?
- Do you have a target length of time for the operation?
- Evaluate plant power requirements and necessary equipment and tooling purchases
- Do you need to upgrade electrical wiring in your plant?
- Which power and frequency generator will work best for your process?
- Which type of inductor will be most efficient?
- Determine space constraints
- Design induction heating coils for the specific part and process using the latest 3D CAD software
- Physically test the inductor on your part and make adjustments as needed
- Develop a recipe for power and time settings to regulate the final production process
Our Equipment Capabilities
We use a 600kW Simultaneous Dual Frequency (SDF) power supply for in-house testing and development. Smaller in-house stock or demo machines can also be used depending on availability. Our stock or demo list typically includes MF generators in the 15kW and 75kW ranges, but the list can vary.
For jobs where new induction power supplies are ordered, a generator can be custom built. The process is then developed using the actual induction system that will be delivered to your facility.
We can also manufacture test coils to aid in final coil optimization. Our on-site, induction coil design and manufacturing department allows us to modify and optimize inductors fast for your specific process.
